Details
American Fork & Hoe Co. U.S. 1945 military issue WWII hatchet has been completely restored, refinished, and is razor sharp. Head is in very good condition – no breaks, cracks, or repairs. Stamps on back are deep and clean, with only the “5” in the date being faint. Head appeared to be profiled forever ago, and was left alone. Vertical lines on front and back of head are manufacturing marks, NOT cracks or defects. See pics for actual details.
New laminated handle is made of walnut over hickory and has beautiful cathedral grain on both sides’. HAND-SHAPED, hand sanded, soaked in Odie’s Oil and hand-rubbed for a clean, smooth look and feel. Clean seal around top and bottom of eye and hung with a hardwood wedge – handle sticks out from head approximately 3/16”.
Comes with an English bridle leather sheath(s) that has been treated with leather conditioning oil. The sheath has been assembled with solid brass burr rivets that have been hand peened for a traditional hammered look and has a solid brass Sam Browne button stud closure.
