Beautiful hand-forged, hand-engraved fire axe hung on laminate handle

Head was forged by Modern Forge blacksmith members Cliff Dufton @cjdufton and John Erianne @sunsetforgenj and has a polished, razor sharp cutting edge. Super clean forging with lots of texturing all over. Pick head point has been polished, as well as the bottom edge has been beveled and polished. Their respective touch marks are under pick.

Head has over 100 hours of hand engraving done by Evan Watson @thehandengraver. It has been engraved on the front, back, and top of pick in a modern/traditional scroll technique. Side engravings wrap around and join together on top of the head and travel to the pick point.

New handle is a 3-piece laminate, with crotch grain white oak over hickory and is very active with tons of figuring and chatoyance. Handle has been HAND-SHAPED, hand sanded, soaked in Odie’s Oil and hand-rubbed for a clean, smooth look and feel. Clean seal around top and bottom of eye and hung with a hardwood wedge – handle sticks out from head approximately 3/16”.

Comes with a 9/10 ounce English bridle leather sheath(s) that has been treated with leather conditioning oil. The sheath has been assembled with solid brass burr rivets that have been hand peened for a traditional hammered look and has a solid brass Sam Browne button stud closure.
